BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

Minutes of October 27, 2009

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the Woods Church by Vice President Jerry Pesterfield.  Also attending were Dan Nataf, Al Johnston, John Noville, Roy Higgs, and Maureen Carr York.

 

Secretary’s Report:  The September Board meeting minutes were discussed and will be approved by email when finished.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Steve Poland was out of town and the Treasurers report for September was not available. The reports will be emailed for filing.

 

Education:  Brief discussion on School Board issues by Maureen. No new issues.

Public Works:  No new issues so no Report

 

Environmental Committee:  Nothing new to report.

 

Speakers for 2009:   November will be BRAC and December will be GSPC Board elections and Cathy Vitalle.

January is election results and Dan Nataf to discuss Severna Park survey.

 

Police Relations: Several items were discussed but no official report. Jerry will put out a list of items to be aware of as we approach the Holiday Season.

       changed land use from residential to commercial.

   Bill 62-09 Zoning-Nonconforming lots, Withdrawn, rewrite pending. Board Motion-Support.

   Bills 81 & 82, Slotts Bills. One permits Arundel Mills, the other limiting south of Rout 32, excludes Arundel Mills.

   Comprehensive Rezoning Process, Application starting 12-1-09 through 1-31-10 GSPC will review all

       applications with in the GSPC defined boundaries.  Overlap in Broadneck Small Area Plan??

      C2 in R2 zone, Applicant argued County Council made a mistake for not affirmatively considering during rezoning,

     (Crain West). Zoning Enforcement cleared to enforce Consent Order, District Court schedule January-  

     February per conference with Zoning Enforcement on 9-16-09.

Maryland Department of the Environment Cases

   MDE Water Management Administration, EW Ritchie Property aka Arundel Crossroads, (Owner MIDS

      Commercial that impacts 2,785 sq ft wetlands, 2,750 sq ft pond, 65 ft intermittent stream & 17, 305 sq ft of wetland

      determination pending.

Membership–Jerry Pesterfield discussed the need to follow up with several communities that have not paid the 2009 dues. Have the community changed Board members and we have not been updated or do they have issues with GSPC. We will divide the list between us and follow up with them.

 

Nominations Committee – The Board unanimously voted John Norville onto the slate of Board members for 2010. John Noville will appoint Julie Krouse and Charlie Miller onto the Election Committee.

Unfinished Business: None

 

New Business:  All Johnson has received the State AARP Volunteer Award (Andrus Award for Community Service) for 2009.
