The meeting was called to order by President Maureen Carr-York at 7:35 pm at the Severna Park Library.
Secretary’s Report: Wes Adams distributed the July meeting minutes to the membership via email. Without objection the minutes were approved as submitted.
Treasurer’s Report: Steve Poland submitted the June
Finance report which was read to the membership. Below are the key numbers from
the report which will be filed for audit. All GSPC moneys are FDIC
insured.

President’s Report: Welcome New Delegates – Evergreen, West Severna Park, Woodbury Farms – New Community, Severna Gardens. 50 Communities in Good Standing/13 in Arrears
Special Guests: Captain David Waltmeyer – AA County Police Eastern District – New Commander of the Eastern District. Captain Waltmeyer addressed the delegation providing his background experience (rising through the ranks to head of the Criminal Investigations Division) introducing his staff and providing an overview of the Eastern District. He addressed the turnover in the Command Staff and explained the benefits of Community Policing Philosophy. He addressed a recent spike in theft from autos (especially in the Cape Arthur area) and a robbery on the B & A trail. Finally, he addressed questions from the delegation.

3rd Wednesday of Every Month – 7:30 Community Meeting at 3700 Mountain Road.
Education Committee: School starts the 24th – 26th. Mike Lahey was not re-appointed to the Board of Education. Benfield facing the loss of an additional teacher. There is an on-line forum or discussion group at SPHS_CAC@yahoo.com.
Environmental Committee: 5th Annual Celebrate the Severn Party – September 17, 2009 – to support the Severn River Keeper Program - $100 ($70 tax deductible) Jerry Pesterfield sent a flyer previously. Also, See Al’s Zoning and Legislation Report.
Police Relations: Nothing in addition to the presentation.
Public Works: Nothing new to report. Ben Oaks is having an issue with its water pumping station. West Severna Park is experiencing a sewer problem on Evergreen.
ASPIRE: No new Report. Severna Park Day planned for October – more information to follow.
BWI Noise Committee: No Report. Seems to have been a decrease in late night flights over the Greater Severna Park Area.

Bylaws Revision - Thanks to John Norville and Dan Nataf for their work in revising the bylaws. Motion passed 41-0.

Zoning/Legislation: Presentation by Al Johnson – Discussion of Rules Changes in Board of Appeals and Brief discussion of the GDP. Discussion of the various bills, cases, etc. concerning zoning and legislation being followed by Al Johnson.
